Before this only recorded errors instead of setting the span status,
which makes it harder to dig through.
Now an error that bubbles is reflected in the span status.

For array fields, overrides are merged together
but override is not merged with the target. If merging
with target is desired we can add support for
overrides with += operator in the future.
